5 Hot New Restaurant Openings in NYC

DiningOut has highlighted five notable new restaurant openings in New York City for April and May 2026.

It features more than 400 products across over 250 brands with a focus on discovery and community.

Morgenstern’s Finest Ice Cream returned to the Lower East Side at 2 Rivington Street.

The shop offers creative flavors including Hong Kong milk tea, olive oil chocolate sorbet, and banana mocha swirl.

Yesterday’s opened in the West Village at 157 Bleecker Street.

The bar serves wood-fired pizzas, mozzarella sticks, Wagyu burgers, and grilled shrimp tacos.

Café Fleuri opened in the Financial District at 109 Washington Street.

The French-inspired eatery features classics like a Gruyere burger and chocolate mousse with a beautiful backyard garden.

Regina’s Grocery opened its sixth outpost in the East Village at 111 First Avenue.

The Italian-American sandwich shop offers favorites like the Meatball Parm Hero and family-named sandwiches.

These openings reflect a vibrant spring dining scene across various neighborhoods.

Dean’s British Pub Opens Next to King in Soho

Dean’s, a new British pub, has opened at 213 Sixth Avenue in Soho right next to the beloved bistro King.

The casual spot serves classic British dishes such as stargazy pie, crispy fish and chips, and plenty of Guinness.

The stargazy pie features Spanish and Boston mackerels with fish heads playfully sticking out of the crust.

Other signature items include house-made crumpets topped with crab salad and pan-seared bay scallops with salsify sauce and bacon lardons.

The space was fully rebuilt to last 10 to 15 years and features a warm, pub-like atmosphere.

Opening was delayed from fall 2025 to spring 2026 as Shadbolt gave birth about seven weeks before the debut.

Dean’s is already popular for dinner and aims to be a reliable neighborhood staple.

Le Pavillon Celebrates 5th Anniversary and Its Role in NYC Recovery

Le Pavillon, Daniel Boulud’s upscale Midtown restaurant, is celebrating its fifth anniversary.

Boulud and his team pushed city officials to lift capacity limits so they could open at full strength.

The launch signaled confidence in Midtown’s recovery and helped encourage other high-profile openings.

Restaurants like Avra, Fasano, Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s Four Twenty Five, and Le Rock followed in the area.

SL Green CEO Marc Holliday noted that Le Pavillon opened when the future of Midtown was uncertain.

NYC Hospitality Alliance executive director Andrew Rigie said the restaurant sent a message that dining was key to the city’s recovery.

Le Pavillon contributed significantly to the rebound of high-end dining in New York after the pandemic.

Casa Tua Cucina Joins Downtown Brooklyn’s Dining Boom

Casa Tua Cucina is the latest restaurant drawn to Downtown Brooklyn’s housing growth.

It will open next year on the ground floor of the landmarked former Williamsburgh Bank Tower at One Hanson Place.

The space had been largely vacant since the building’s conversion to luxury condos in 2007.

The new concept will feature a curated food hall and dining experience inspired by the original Casa Tua in Miami and its Upper East Side location.

Nearly 6,000 new apartments have opened in the Fulton Street and Flatbush Avenue corridors since 2024.

This growth has brought approximately 12,000 new residents to the area.

Din Tai Fung is also planning to open in the new tower called The Brook.

Recent arrivals include chains like Lidl, Aldi, The Fresh Grocer, and various fast-casual concepts offering Chinese, Jamaican, Filipino, Italian, Korean, and Southern American cuisines.

Chris DeCrosta of GoodSpace NYC noted that the new residents created a built-in customer base.

This development supports strong rents on Fulton Street and signals continued revitalization of the neighborhood.
