Good Morning NY!

Today, we’re covering another round of major restaurant closures that continue to reshape the city’s dining landscape.

A beloved food festival is also returning to Tribeca this weekend, bringing together some of the neighborhood’s biggest names for one massive culinary celebration.

We’re taking a look at a new East Village opening that blends Korean and Italian influences in a creative and unexpected way.

Plus, a Broadway celebration turned into an exclusive NYC dinner party hosted by one of Hollywood’s biggest stars.

And finally, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were once again spotted out in Brooklyn during another headline-making NYC date night.

Taste of Tribeca 2026 Returns This Weekend

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Duane Street between Greenwich and Hudson Streets.

More than 50 Tribeca restaurants, bars, and food vendors will offer samples.

Participating spots include Bubby's with buttermilk fried chicken sliders, Locanda Verde with cacio e pepe arancini, and The Dutch with a fried chicken sandwich.

Other highlights feature Takahachi sushi, Tiny's mini cheeseburgers, and Khe-Yo Laotian sausage.

Tickets cost $35 in advance or $45 at the door, with children under 12 admitted free.

Proceeds benefit the Tribeca Young Filmmakers organization and other local nonprofits.

The festival is rain or shine, with indoor options available if needed.

Attendees can purchase food tickets on-site to sample from multiple vendors.

This popular event continues to celebrate Tribeca’s vibrant dining scene.

Adrien Brody Shuts Down Estelle’s for Broadway Celebration

Adrien Brody privately closed the swanky Meatpacking District restaurant Estelle’s for a special event.

He invited castmates, friends, and family for the celebratory night.

During a toast, Brody praised his co-star Tessa Thompson as a “wonderful partner in crime.”

He also sweetly acknowledged his girlfriend Georgina Chapman.

Brody thanked everyone for supporting him through the limited-run production.

The dinner featured crudo, pasta, steak, and the restaurant’s signature banana bread cake.

Cocktails and wine flowed throughout the evening.

To cap off the night, Brody surprised guests with a massive chocolate “leg” to smash.

This playful nod to the theater phrase “break a leg” ended the celebration on a high note.

The event highlighted Brody’s appreciation for his Broadway journey and loved ones.

Sono Brings Korean-Italian Fusion to the East Village

Sono, a new restaurant blending Korean and Italian cuisines, opens on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

Chef Sechul Yang, who has worked at Maialino, Gramercy Tavern, Oiji Mi, and Ddobar, leads the kitchen.

The name “Sono” means “I am” in Italian and reflects Yang’s 70% Korean and 30% Italian culinary background.

The menu fuses Italian dishes with Korean ingredients and techniques, emphasizing family-style sharing and handmade noodles.

Standout items include chitarra pasta with saffron and Korean zucchini, oxtail fettuccine combining cacio e pepe and oxbone soup, and braised suckling pork shank with perilla leaves.

Desserts feature cassta gelato, tiramisu with Japanese castella, and pannacotta in a bathtub-shaped jar.

Main dishes are priced under $50 to keep the restaurant approachable.

The 40-seat dining room features checkered floors, natural woods, and burgundy and dark green tones.

Sono is open 5:30 to 11 p.m. weekdays and until midnight on weekends.

This opening adds an exciting new fusion concept to the East Village dining scene.
