Andy Warhol Handprint Painting Rediscovered in Austria

A forgotten Andy Warhol artwork made up of handprints has resurfaced in Austria.
In 1985, at the short-lived restaurant The Strand on West 46th Street, Warhol painted a table with handprints along with regulars including Dolly Fox.
The table features signatures and handprints from the group.
The last known owner, Reinhard Diethardt, purchased it for $2 million in 2005.
Vienna-based filmmaker Robert Hofferer contacted Dolly Fox after discovering her signature on the piece.
Fox will reunite with the table in October.
She described the creation as a quick, spur-of-the-moment activity that took about 10 minutes.
The restaurant was a tiny, gloomy spot that closed shortly after the painting session.
This rediscovery highlights an unexpected chapter in Warhol’s New York restaurant legacy.
