Patty Palace Rolls Into Union Square

On track to open this fall, Tatiana Chef Kwame Onwuachi strikes again
Chef Kwame Onwuachi is expanding his fast-casual Jamaican patty shop, Patty Palace, to Time Out Market’s new Union Square food hall.
The stand will be located at 124 East 14th Street, between Third and Fourth Avenues.
Time Out Market Union Square is on track to open this fall.
Onwuachi debuted Patty Palace earlier this spring at Citi Field, serving only the curried chicken patty.
The Union Square location will add classic beef patties and jerk mushroom options.
Onwuachi will also pour his sparkling water brand, Miri, alongside the patties.
The hall is slated to house seven kitchens, 219 indoor seats, a backyard patio, and a full bar with live entertainment.
Look for Patty Palace when Time Out Market opens later this year.
Julia Jean’s Pops Up Permanently on the LES

202 Clinton St Number 7, New York, NY 10002
Julia Jean’s ice cream shop officially opened its first brick-and-mortar on Saturday, May 17, at 202 Clinton Street.
Owner Ayanna Quint first launched Julia Jean’s as a Partybus Bakeshop pop-up last summer.
The shop is named after Quint’s mother and specializes in classic sundaes, scoops, ice-cream sandwiches, and shakes.
Flavors include cherry-vanilla, chocolate, cookies and cream, salted caramel, and strawberry, plus sorbets like lemon, mango, nectarine, and orange.
“Ice-cream showers”—Quint’s term for chocolate-flake mix-ins—are a nod to stracciatella.
Current hours are Friday 3 p.m.–11 p.m., Saturday 1 p.m.–11 p.m., and Sunday 1 p.m.–10 p.m.
Quint learned ice-cream craft after baking during the pandemic and completing courses at Penn State and Carpigiani.
Julia Jean’s brings small-batch, handmade scoops to a dedicated LES storefront.
Lele’s Roman Anchors Ace Hotel Brooklyn

Roman Pastas & Drinks? Count me in
Lele’s Roman opened on Friday, May 23, at 252 Schermerhorn Street inside the Ace Hotel Brooklyn.
The restaurant replaces As You Are and anchors the hotel’s lobby space.
Chef Francesco Battisti leads a menu of Roman classics, from breakfast maritozzi to shareable pinsas.
Pasta highlights include rigatoni all’amatriciana and tonnarelli cacio e pepe.
LDV Hospitality, known for Scarpetta and Barlume, oversees the concept.
Design studio Studio Tre melds the hotel’s Brutalist bones with ’70s Italian-funk accents.
Lele’s Roman seats roughly 50 diners in a day-to-night setting.
Expect Roman flair in the heart of Boerum Hill.
Utopia Bagels Spreads to Long Island City

Utopia & Bagel greatness finally arrived in LIC, ready for your visit
Queens-based Utopia Bagels opened its third New York location at 26-11 Jackson Avenue in Long Island City this spring.
The new 3,600-square-foot shop features ample seating and an open oven room.
Co-partner Jesse Spellman confirms the menu mirrors the original: hand-rolled New York–style bagels, cream cheeses, deli salads, and lox.
Regulars can grab bagels toasted just right or assemble their own sandwich creations.
The LIC spot joins Utopia’s flagship on Utopia Parkway and its Murray Hill outpost on East 34th Street.
Operating hours are 6 a.m.–4 p.m. daily.
Utopia’s expansion cements its Queens roots while serving more of the city.
Bagel lovers in LIC now have an extra reason to rise and shine.
DOP Fast Life Pizza Lands in Clinton Hill

Living the fast slice life with DOP’s new shop: 995A Fulton Street
Park Slope’s Brooklyn DOP pizzeria expanded with DOP Fast Life, a new slice shop on Friday, May 16.
The shop sits at 995A Fulton Street, at the corner of Cambridge Place.
DOP Fast Life serves 20-inch whole pies alongside single-slice options.
Menu items include classic cheese slices, specialty pies, and salad add-ons.
There is no online ordering; guests queue up for timed in-person service.
The opening follows DOP’s acclaim for its hand-stretched dough and quality toppings in Park Slope.
Clinton Hill locals can now grab a quick slice or pie without trekking across borough lines.
The fast-life pizza concept brings DOP’s neighborhood vibe to a new corner.
